Mentorship!

New for 2024!

So many of you have come to classes in the studio and then said: "I want to take ALL of the classes!!!!"

You want to go deeper than just a quick 3 hour course.

You want to learn as much as you can and soak it all in. You want to feel more comfortable working with a torch and have more time to practice your skills.

The Mentorship is a more in-depth class than anything else we offer. With a maximum of 6 students, you’ll have ample opportunity to ask questions and get support and guidance.

Mentorship Level 1: Beginner (March-April, Sundays)

5 Weeks of Instruction + 1 Open Studio Session

Class 1: Introduction to soldering-we’ll take a deep dive into how and why soldering works and practice our skills by making 3 types of rings.

Class 2: Sawing and Soldering: We will get acquainted with the jeweler’s saw to cut out elements and join two flat pieces of sheet metal together in a process called sweat soldering. We’ll create a pendant or ring from scratch.

Class 3: Open Hollow forms with a small stone: We’ll learn how to create “frames” on our jewelry to create dimension and divide areas

Class 4: Bezel Setting: You will love learning to create a bezel setting from scratch as you make a pair of earrings or pendants

Class 5: Torch Fired Enameling: You’ll learn to sift and fire enamel onto copper to create jewelry of your choice

Class 6: Open Studio: Finish any outstanding projects, catch up on any structured lessons you missed or work independently on your own projects.

Some of the Skills You'll learn:
Foundational metalsmithing skills including how to use butane and acetylene torches; how to set up a home studio; the five rules of soldering; how to clean, polish and finish your work, adding texture and patina, recycling your silver and more!
